Lead Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum


Law Business Research are looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to lead the systems admin team in managing our IT Infrastructure and providing 3rd line support. Law Business Research infrastructure is based on Windows Hyperconverged technology on top of which run our RDS infrastructure and web hosting. The long-term strategy is to migrate hosting to Azure which would be a significant part of the role for the right candidate. The right candidate will have strong foundations and a broad experience of technologies ranging from internet protocols to website hosting to virtualisation and desktop infrastructure hosting.

Requirements

What a typical day looks like:

  • Daily stand up and weekly planning meetings with the team
  • 3rd line systems support to ensure server infrastructure is running 24/7
  • Maintain Infrastructure monitoring and alerting system
  • Configuration and maintenance of IT Infrastructure
  • Implement and deploy new IT software
  • Training/handover sessions to other IT Ops team members as part of project rollouts/upgrades
  • Risks and security management
  • · Best practice change control, problem resolution and incident management

  • What we are looking for:
  • 5 years’ experience in Microsoft Windows Server administration
  • Leadership skills
  • Strong experience with Microsoft technologies
  • Installation and maintenance of Remote Desktop Services Infrastructure and collection
  • Hyper-V 2019 and cluster
  • Microsoft Azure services to support/extend on premise infrastructure
  • Windows hyper converged solutions (HCI/S2D)
  • IIS and High Availability
  • SQL Server and High Availability
  • Good knowledge of networking protocols including 802.1x
  • Secure infrastructure/architecture design
  • Scripting and automation skills / PowerShell DSC
  • Azure / AWS

Preferable:

Current IT certifications (MCSA/MCSE/CCNA/CCNP/JNCIA)
